Asbestos MAnagement PLanner Course

Initianl Course Session Time: 24 hours (three days) Test: At the completion of the course, a 100 question test will be administered. A minimum score of 70% or higher is required to for the course certification. Course Prerequisite: Current registration in the State of Texas as an architect or professional engineer Or Accredited four year college or university bachelor degree including four years experience in areas affecting environmental or occupational health matters. Or Current highest full-qualification memberships in a national professional organization devoted to technical proficiency in environmental or occupational health protection, which includes: A published code of ethics: Administration by an active board of directors: Admission requirements that specify college courses and other training , a bachelor‵s or higher degree, at least three years‵ experience in specified fields, and a qualification examination (example include the American Academy of industrial hygiene and the board of Certified Safety Professional) Refresher Course Session Time: 8 hours (one day) Test: Refresher Quiz - to review in class Course Prerequisite: Student's certificates must be current and in compliance with state and federal requirements to register. General Course Curriculum Course Objective: EPA certification Apply for a Texas Department of State Health Services Asbestos license Course Target: Persons in search of employment as an asbestos project designer Course Content: Understanding of the health effects, physical properties of asbestos, ACM, and ACBM. Familiarization with current federal, state, and local asbestos regulations as they apply to asbestos project designers and related abatement rejects. In conjunction with existing regulation, do‵s and don‵ts of evaluating and consolidating all pertinent asbestos information such as as-builts, actual field conditions, asbestos, surveys, manager planner reports, client ‟boiler Plates‶ , client requirements, contractor capabilities, etc. into biddable and safe asbestos abatement projects. Hands-on classroom discussions and example that include AIA contract documents, CIS and NBIS specifications, RFCI protocols, hazard assessments and prioritization schemes, abatement schemes, homogeneous areas, functional spaces, proper preparation of the asbestos AHERA and O&M management plans, regulated and containment areas, other medical related information, air monitoring, and laboratory analysis in general. This class will assist in the preparation for TDSHS state exam.
